The Cybertruck’s design has been described as a truck drawn by a 6-year-old. Well, an adorable new video of children playing next to the truck shows children indeed love the Cybertruck. We can hear them excitedly shout “Mom, It’s the real Cyb’o’rtruck!”
The Cybertruck has a unique design that’s loved by some and loathed by others. The Cybertruck’s triangular silhouette, hard edges, and exposed shiny stainless steel surface, in addition to being bold and eye-catching design features, also serve practical advantages.
Most people who love the Cybertruck’s design tend to understand the practical reason behind some of the design decisions.
For example, the reason the Cybertruck is devoid of curves and is made out of hard edges is that the all-electric truck is built out of 30X cold-rolled ultra-hard stainless steel.
The strength of the Cybertruck’s stainless steel means, it can not be stamped into curves similar to conventional vehicles which are made using regular steel and aluminum. And out of all the polygons Tesla could’ve chosen, the reason the Cybertruck is triangular is that the triangle is the strongest and most stable shape in nature.
Similar to the hard edges, the triangular shape is there to give the vehicle extra durability during a crash or a rollover.
The reason the Cybertruck has an exposed stainless steel finish rather than various paint options is due to the fact that Elon Musk believes putting paint on top of the ultra-strong stainless steel will decrease the truck’s durability.
Vehicle paint not only is flimsy but, is also incredibly expensive, and if the outermost part of the vehicle is easily susceptible to damage, then it will defeat the entire purpose of building an ultra-tough truck out of cold rolled stainless steel.
If you’re wondering why didn’t Tesla just build a conventional truck out of aluminum and steel with beautiful curves and paint, then I’ll refer you to what Elon Musk said in response to Joe Rogan who asked him why he needed to build a bulletproof truck; Musk’s answer “why wouldn’t you want your truck to be bulletproof?”
For those who can see the utilitarian necessities for the Cybertruck’s design, the vehicle is absolutely beautiful, for the rest it’s the ugliest vehicle ever produced.
Tesla detractors have even described the Cybertruck’s design as low-res rendering from an old game and what a child would draw in art class. This is a massive dig at Tesla’s seasoned design team however, although harsh, these people might not be too off on their assessment.
Cybertruck haters call the truck’s design something drawn by a 6-year-old. Well, a new video shows the vehicle does indeed appeal to little children. In the video below, you can see a release candidate Cybertruck parked in a residential neighborhood.
Seeing the Cybertruck with its backdrop being suburban homes is already surreal, however, what little children playing in their neighborhood say in response to the vehicle is what is even more exciting.
After seeing the truck in person, presumably for the first time, the children are heard excitedly saying “Cybertruck, it’s, Cybertruck, it’s the real Cybortruck.”
The way the children pronounce Cybertruck is incredibly adorable. This is just a feel-good story however, it also highlights Elon Musk’s and Tesla’s ability to talk to our inner child, or in this case, talk to literal little children with their design.
I mean, it’s fitting that the company that has brought us “Fart Mode”, “Arcades” and triple-A game titles in the center screen of the vehicle also build the truck children love the most.
Not only is Tesla successfully growing vehicle sales, but the EV maker is also capturing the imagination of the next generation of car buyers. The Cybertruck is shaping up to be a massive success for Tesla and we’ll be sure to keep you posted as the EV maker starts delivering the all-electric truck on November 30.
