Several Tesla Cybertruck Owners Share They’re Experiencing Stability Issues at High Speeds – One Owner Says, “I Love the Truck, but I’m Getting a Strong Wobble Starting at 70 MPH, Which Gets Pretty Intense at 80 & 90 MPH”

Many Cybertruck owners report experiencing stability problems at speeds above 70 miles per hour. The issue appears to be linked to the foam inserts inside the Cybertruck’s all-terrain tires. This could result in the Cybertruck’s 9th physical recall.

Randy Dunton is a Cybertruck owner from Arizona and says that after 4,000 miles, he still loves his truck, but he’s experiencing significant wobble when he drives above 70 miles an hour.

Considering the Cybertruck’s top speed of 110 mph, a wobble beginning at 70 mph is not ideal; however, Randy doesn’t seem to be the only one facing this issue, as several other Cybertruck owners report experiencing stability problems at high speeds.

Randy started this discussion by sharing his personal experience on the Tesla Cybertruck Owners group on Facebook.

Randy writes…

"4,000 miles so far. I love the Cybertruck, no doubt about it, but I’m noticing a strong wobble that seems to originate from the tires or suspension starting at 70 miles per hour, and it becomes quite intense at 80 and 90 mph.”

A vehicle that shakes when reaching 70 miles per hour is not ideal; however, complicating matters further, Randy says this phenomenon doesn’t happen every time he drives above 70 mph.

He writes…

“Strangely, this phenomenon comes and goes. I visited the service center and asked about it, and they recommended that I schedule a service call, which I did.”

After speaking with a Tesla service technician, Randy reports that the current theory is that the high-speed instability is caused by the foam inserts inside the Cybertruck tires.

For noise-dampening purposes, the Cybertruck tires are fitted with foam. It appears that this foam can become detached and roll around within the tire, leading to an imbalance between the two wheels and causing the truck to shake at high speeds.

Randy continues writing…

“The only speculation so far is that there may be a foam insert that is coming loose inside the tire.”

Finally, Randy concludes his post by asking the community if anyone has experienced something like this.

He writes…

“Has anyone else encountered this issue?"

In response, several Cybertruck owners share that they, too, are experiencing stability issues at high speeds.

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Rick Sams, writes…

“I had the exact problem a few weeks ago. The foam in one of the tires came completely loose and was making the vehicle shake at high speeds. Tesla purchased a new tire and installed it for free.”

Another Cybertruck owner, Maher Sabalbal, writes…

“I'm having the same issue... vibration at high speeds. It's subtle but definitely noticeable.”

A third Cybertruck owner, Doron Sam Benarroch, reports not only experiencing stability issues at high speeds but also provides a receipt from Tesla showing that the EV maker replaced his Cybertruck tires for free under warranty due to this exact problem.

Doron writes…

“Yes. the issue is exactly the foam getting detached.”

Below his post, Doron shares a screenshot from a recent Tesla Service appointment to address this issue.

The Tesla service bill shows the customer’s complaint, the issue identified, the corrective action taken, and how much it cost or whether the repair was done under warranty.

Tesla writes…

Concern: Customer states: Other • Noise & Vibration - When passing the speed of 80+, the entire car is shaking

Repair Notes: Verified customer concern. Foam separation was found in the front left tire and has been removed and rebalanced. Verified proper operation.

Correction: Tire - Front - Left Hand (Remove & Install) - Remove and Install

Pay Type: Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty”

Another Cybertruck owner, Jared McDaniel, also testifies that he has experienced the same issue of high-speed instability caused by foam separation in the tires.

Jared writes…

“Guaranteed it’s the foam insert. I had the same thing. New tire fixed everything.”

Looking at the comments, it appears that current Cybertruck owners generally agree there is a high-speed stability issue with the vehicle that arises after 70 miles per hour, which is linked to foam separation in the Cybertruck tires.

However, a Cybertruck owner, Freddy Santiago, who has driven several Cybertrucks with various wheel and tire combinations, believes he might have valuable insight that could identify which specific Cybertruck trims may be impacted by this issue.

The Cybertruck currently comes with two sets of wheel and tire combinations. The more well-known version, with its futuristic design, features the Cybertruck “Cyberwheel” paired with all-terrain Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT tires.

However, Tesla also ships the Cybertruck equipped with a range-oriented set of all-season tires and an aerodynamic “Core Wheel” design featuring Pirelli Scorpion ATR all-season tires.

The Cyberwheels and the accompanying all-terrain tires are gripper, more aesthetically pleasing, and are a $3,500 option over the more range-focused Core Wheel and all-season tire combo.

However, according to Freddy, he believes the more expensive Cyberwheels with the Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT tires are the ones with the detaching foam and high-speed instability issues.

Freddy writes…

“I have a Cybertruck with Core wheels, and I took it in for service. They provided me with a loaner that has Cyberwheels, and I noticed a shake or vibration in the front.

I've never experienced that with mine. The loaner has only about 1,700 miles, so I suspect the wheels might be unbalanced or something. I'm glad I chose the Core wheels over the Cyberwheels.”

Looking at the comments, there is fear among Tesla fans that this widespread high-speed instability and detaching tire foam issue might lead to yet another physical recall for the vehicle.

A fellow Cybertruck owner Sergio F Pereira writes…

“I hope this doesn’t turn into another recall.”

If this prediction holds true, it will mark the Cybertruck’s official 9th physical recall.

So far, in our previous article, we’ve been able to successfully predict a Cybertruck recall for detached body panels several weeks before Tesla acknowledged the problem.

And given the number of Cybertruck owners I've seen complaining about the high-speed wobble, I wouldn’t be surprised if the detaching tire foam becomes Tesla’s next Cybertruck recall.
