Tesla Cybertruck Efficiency Shows 454 Wh/Mi: A Real World Range Of About 270 Miles

The Tesla Cybertruck has its first efficiency report that I've seen online, and it shows 454 Wh/Mi, which is about 270 miles of real world range. This appears to be a Cyberbeast (tri-motor) variant.

Cybertruck Efficiency at 270 Miles Real World Range

The first efficiency report from the Tesla Cybertruck is out, and it shows a 454 watt-hours per mile (454 Wh/Mi). With a 123 kWh battery, that puts the real world range of the Cybertruck at about 270 miles of range (1,000 / 454)*123.

In the case of this Cybertruck, it was not stated what variant this is, however, I think it is the Cyberbeast version with three motors because the range is listed at 300 miles in the top left at nearly a 100% charge - closer to the Cyberbeast range of 320 miles and not the AWD range of 340 miles.

Also, it's unclear how much the climate controls were being used, if things were being towed, or if the driver was driving efficiently, such as hyper-miling, or accelerating often, which uses much more battery than not doing so.

It's Important to note that real world range is generally lower than EPA range. My Model 3 RWD has an EPA range of 272 miles, although that is now 260 miles after 16 months and 13,000 miles. I will generally only get that in real world range if I don't use the climate controls, and I drive without using the accelerator too heavily.

If I drive using climate controls and don't care about hard acceleration, I'll get around 200 miles of real world range and sometimes less, depending on how cold it is and how heavy I run the climate controls.

Which Variant Is This, and Can It Do Better?

As I said, I think this is the Cyberbeast variant, and I do think the range here can be better. For someone who has this Cybertruck, it is likely a Foundation Series Cybertruck and the owner is probably not going to be driving it "timidly".

They are going to be accelerating hard and fast and having fun with it. That's what I did with my 2022 Model 3 RWD for the first month that I owned it. Doing fast accelerations from a stop was done quite often, however, now, I don't do it as much as I've already experienced it.

The way to get the true real world range here is for someone to take their Cybertruck driving and do a 300-mile road trip without running climate controls or doing hard acceleration, as well as putting the speedometer as 65, 70, 75, and 80 miles.

A test could also be done in city driving to see what the real world range is there, such as using the Cybertruck as an Uber for a day. I think the real world range would be higher, driving at lower miles per hour.

Still, 270 miles of real world range isn't too bad. What will be interesting to see as time goes on is how much battery degradation the Cybertruck experiences.
