There are videos surfacing of Tesla's high fidelity park assist, using Tesla's visual system to assist with parking. This will help those cars that don't have ultrasonic sensors.
Tesla High Fidelity Park Assist
Tesla removed the ultrasonic sensors from its newer cars. This caused a bit of an uproar in Europe, where some data was shown that Model Y sales were softening, allegedly due to the removal of the ultrasonic sensors. In its place is a high fidelity park assist that shows the entire surroundings of the vehicle, like this Tesla at a set of Supercharger stalls.
The original visual park assist that Tesla introduced was pretty horrible. It was nowhere near the precision of the ultrasonic sensors, and Tesla ended up disabling some features because of it.
Fast-forward to today and a new software update for vehicles with hardware 4 and those without ultrasonic sensors, and videos are showing Tesla vehicles parking with a laser-like precision visual parking assist. This feature creates a 3D reconstruction of the surroundings around the Tesla vehicle.
Here is the first video of the high fidelity park assist in action. The Tesla is in the middle of a garage area and the detail is impressive. The visual on the center console screen shows a very accurate representation of the surroundings, which include painted parking lines, walls, and other cars.
I don't think Tesla is done with this feature, either. One thing that the ultrasonic sensors did that was useful is introduced a sound tone when you got too close to something. Tesla should do something with the visual parking assist feature here.

Where Does Tesla Go From Here?
This parking assist feature is nice, and one thing it will do is reduce curb rash that happens to Tesla wheels. One thing that often happens to Tesla owners is that the wheels brush up against the curb because they are easier to damage due to the tire rim sticking out further than the tire.
Here's a case of a Tesla next to the curb, with about a side mirrors length from the car to the curb. The visual representation shows the exact distance in the display.
Of course, with the Tesla cameras when you are in reverse, you can also look at the camera and see how close the tires are to the curb, however, it would be nice for Tesla to use the new high fidelity park assist to make a sound when the car is close to something.
This is a nice feature, and there are other new software updates coming in the latest holiday update. It will roll out to Tesla vehicles in a staggered way. Generally, it's a few weeks before my car gets any software update.
Lastly, this usage of the high fidelity park assist shows all the parking lines painted in the parking lot, showing a clear "grid-like" view for the driver.
I'm looking forward to Tesla honing and refining this feature even more, but it looks pretty good right now!
