The Tesla Van: Predictions About Size, Features, Price, Specs, Range, and More

The Tesla van is going to come out in the next few years, and I have some predictions about what the price and specs will be.

Tesla Van - Size, Price, Range

The Tesla van may end up looking something similar to the picture here. It will be a large vehicle - taller, wider, and more spacious than the Cybertruck and will be great for families and those with disabilities.

I expect the Tesla van to be on par with dimensions comparable to other vans on the market, that means dimensions close to:

  • 85 inches tall
  • 225 inches long
  • 80 inches wide

Here are some other specifications I predict:

  • Weight: 6,000 to 7,000 lbs.
  • Battery: 120 to 150 kWh.
  • Efficiency: 400 to 450 Wh/Mi.
  • 0-60 mph: 6.5 seconds
  • Motors: single or dual
  • Top Speed: 100 mph

The range of the Tesla van will be on par with the current Tesla Cybertruck dual-motor, or about 320 to 340 miles of range.

Pricing will be more expensive at first, ranging from $79,990 to $99,990, depending on the model purchased. The pricing will be very comparable to the Cybertruck as first released, however these two vehicles will be very different from each other.

This van will not have a bulletproof stainless steel exoskeleton like the Cybertruck - however, I do believe it will utilize a different alloy than the existing vehicles, and it will be similar to the Cybertruck, and not be painted at first.

Painting will be an add-on that can be done after purchase. Tesla will want to have the van completely ready to use before painting - if paint is desired.

If Tesla is smart with the van, they will have an option to not have any seating beyond the passenger or driver seat, which will reduce the cost for those that want a van for a "nomad lifestyle" or "van life".

This should drop the cost of that particular van by $10,000 to around $69,990. It will be interesting to see if Tesla does indeed do this and how many orders they get for a van without extra back seats.

Tesla Van - Features

The Tesla van will utilize steer-by-wire - as all Tesla vehicles made after the Cybertruck will. This reduces complexity and makes the vehicle much easier to handle.

The Tesla van will also come with upgraded hardware - hardware 4 or hardware 5 - depending on where Tesla is at with its latest generation of FSD software and cameras.

It will also be capable FSD (full self-driving) and autonomy, which I believe some will use the option without back seats to do deliveries - similar to how the Rivian Amazon van is doing right now.

The Tesla van will also have options for those with disabilities, such as a ramp and assistance for those in a wheelchair. The van will be able to act as a medical transport van for those who need that option.

The van will be great for those with families and have the option for 2 rows with room for sitting 3 people in each. Tesla should not make this van a luxury van like the Volvo EM90 van, but should opt for utility over comfort.

Tesla will not offer solar panels for the van at first, but that may come later from the Tesla accessories team.

The main advantage of the Tesla van will be catering to those with disabilities, the room it has for people - or for cargo and creating a back with a bed and kitchen for those who want to live the van life. It will have great software and be capable of autonomy.

Was there anything I missed about the Tesla van? Do you think Tesla should have an option to have no back seats for those who want to customize it for a nomad lifestyle?

SpaceX now offers a fully mobile version of Starlink and keeps shrinking the transceiver. By the time the van comes out, it should be possible to offer Starlink as a fully integrated option.
