In just a few days, at the Q4 earnings call on January 26th, Tesla CEO Elon Musk will reveal details and give updates about the status of the company's next projects.
2021 was a great year for Tesla: with nearly a million BEV cars sold worldwide and a change of corporate headquarters to Austin – Texas, they have good reasons to be happy. Like at every business opening each year, Elon Musk will make a press release with detailed analysis of the previous business exercise and the hopes for the current year. That same day he will also report on the current status of some important projects; we assume that an update about Cybertruck, Semi and Roadster status will be part of the report.
At this very moment Tesla has already many open fronts. Not only the completion and opening of the Austin and Berlin Gigafactories, but also a series of products that have been greatly delayed as with respect to the original plans of the company. As it was confirmed by Tesla, on January 26 it will report all the details during the usual 2021 earnings report.
While the Model S, Model Y, Model 3 and Model X normally follow - almost automatically - their course of business, Tesla promised to launch many more models during these last 4-5 years. Everyone is waiting for Elon Musk to announce the release date for the Tesla Cybertruck (at last!) and the Tesla Semi, as well as updating info about the Tesla Roadster. All these models have one way or another called lots of attention in recent months (actually, years...) about possible improvements, updates and other details about their development, which is, frankly speaking, taking longer than necessary, even for Tesla.
As for the Cybertruck, we have recently seen it at specific points in its testing phase. Every time we see a unit in development, we see it more evolved than the previous version, and that makes us basically hope that it will be launched soon. Not long ago Tesla announced that at first the Cybertruck would go to volume production in its four-engine variant and that later on the more affordable, 2 and 3 motor units would be available on the market.
On the other hand the Tesla Semi could be even closer to becoming a real product as the latest leaks have revealed that a handful of units will soon be delivered to customers. Even the CEO of a large company (PepsiCo) announced that the first deliveries would be received by the end of 2021 ( which in the end did not actually happen). However, several test models have been spotted driving around and recharging at the new facilities in Austin – Giga Texas, where Tesla's first Megachargers have been installed.
As we said before, Tesla has a very important business year ahead, even more so than in 2021. Everyone expects that this year it will exceed one million units sold, but that alone will not be enough to satisfy investors and customers. The company has a lot more to offer, and that is where Elon Musk will have to report on specific deadlines to the increasingly anxious reservation holders in the US and abroad. The date is January 26th at 5:30 pm EST.
