Production is ramping up at a steady pace: large numbers of Tesla Model Y were spotted today at the Opfikon Train Station in northern Switzerland, as well as in Bassersdorf and Aarau.
Opfikon is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Zürich, located in the district of Bülach. It is situated right to the northeast of the city of Zürich in the Glatt Valley, near Zurich Airport, and thus lies within the greater Zürich area. As it belongs to the region known as the Zurichois Lowlands (Zürcher Unterland), the landscape is rather flat. The station is served by Zürich S-Bahn line S7, which is where the Teslas were spotted. Opfikon station is some 250 metres (820 ft) walk from Glattbrugg station on S-Bahn line S5 and the Stadtbahn Glattal. The Opfikon station has a single central platform, which is flanked by two tracks. The two through tracks of the Zürich Airport station branch of the Zürich to Winterthur line run parallel to the platform, but are not connected to the platform tracks in the vicinity of the station.
Bassersdorf is a municipality also located in the canton of Zürich, in the district of Bülach, and belongs to the Glatt Valley (German: Glattal). The train station is located on the Zurich to Winterthur main line, to the east of where the Zürich Airport and Kloten lines diverge. It is an intermediate stop on the Zurich S-Bahn services S7 and S24.
Another Tesla Model Y shipment was also spotted at Aarau railway station (German: Bahnhof Aarau), which serves the municipality of Aarau, capital town of the canton of Aargau. Opened in 1856, it is owned and operated by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS). The station forms the junction between the Olten–Aarau railway, the Zurich-Aarau railway and the Baden–Aarau railway. Previously, it was also a terminus of the now closed Aarau–Suhr railway.
The Teslas spotted on the railways are Model Y, amazing SUVs built for safety: like every Tesla, it was designed to be the safest vehicle in its class. The low center of gravity, rigid body structure and large crumple zones provide unparalleled protection. It also provides maximum versatility - able to carry 7 passengers and their cargo. Each second row seat folds flat independently, creating flexible storage for skis, furniture, luggage and more.
The liftgate opens to a low trunk floor that makes loading and unloading easy and quick. Tesla All-Wheel Drive has two ultra-responsive, independent electric motors that digitally control torque to the front and rear wheels - for far better handling, traction and stability control. Model Y is capable in rain, snow, mud and off-road, all with an amazing acceleration: from zero to 60 mph* in as little as 3.5 seconds.
With 326 miles of estimated range on a single charge, range anxiety is not an issue with a Model Y; you can also recharge up to 162 miles in 15 minutes at Supercharger locations. If you charge overnight at home, you can wake up to a full battery every morning. And when you’re on the road, it’s easy to plug in along the way - at any public station or with the Tesla charging network. Tesla currently has over 25,000 Superchargers worldwide, with six new locations opening every week.
