Are you still stuck on deciding if you like the new 2022 Toyota Tundra compared to the older models? What this owner said will surely change your mind for the better.
The new Tundra has seen some rainy days. We can all agree on that. But name one car that hasn’t had any negative backlash? A lot of cars come out with problems in the first year of production. The Pontiac Fierro caught on fire, Ford F-150s broke right in the lot, a few Teslas caught on fire, etc. But a good auto manufacturer such as Toyota would fix that right away which they have with the new Tundra. In late months of 2021, when people were taking delivery of their new Tundra, a lot of them experienced a problem with the wastegate issue.
If you don’t know what that is, when gasses escape through the wastegate of the turbo, they have to create some sort of pressure in order to create movement. Now on some Tundras this wastegate valve failed a lot and would result in improper removal of the turbo gasses. Now this creates the engine to confuse itself and make it go into limp mode and require you to go see the dealership. There have been extreme circumstances such as my cousin’s Tundra where even after the wastegate was solved, a lot of other troubles arrived like the rear axle being loose or the differential being junk or even the seats leaking.
By the way, be sure to check out our latest Tundra story on why Ford might be the next problem.
However, do not be distraught. One of the owners posted this really interesting opinion on Facebook’s Toyota Tundra Nation group. Jason Stilgebouer basically said that Toyota is one of the companies that is known to correct mistakes is they present themselves as imminent. He also said that if you really are a die hard v8 fan and think that the new drivetrain is trash, then you need to reevaluate what you are rating. True the v8 sounds cooler and feels better but the new drivetrain just has more power and better handling. Not to mention a sever spike in better fuel efficiency which we all could use. He ended by saying that we should wait till the 2023 model year of the Tundra if we want to get one because it would give Toyota plenty of time to really iron out the kinks in the 2022 model year.
I think that if you really want to drive a truck to and from your office job even though you don’t really need a truck, that’s perfectly fine. We live in a country where I could drive a semi-truck to get McDonald’s and that would be okay. The only problem is as people, we should concern ourselves with financials first rather than think, “maybe the guys at work would like me more if I drove a truck.” I completely agree with waiting until 2023 to buy a new Tundra. I would also say the same with the RAV4 because they are completely redesign the infotainment screen which could use a severe upgrade.
What do you think? Would you wait until 2023? What are your thoughts on v8 Vs. TTv6? Let us know in the comments below.
