After spending some money on miscellaneous expenses at the dealership, you acquired $1000 to spend on your next visit. What should you get to mod out your 2022 Toyota Tacoma?
One of the best tactics in the dealer business is to get the buyer to spend as much as they can on miscellaneous things like details and sun visors and maybe even a bumper sticker. In return, most dealers will more than likely give you a sort of store credit to use at your next visit. Most forums call them “Toyota bucks” for the sake of simplicity.
Now while the average prospective owner tries to stay away from miscellaneous expenses, it may not sound like a bad idea if your dealer gives out Toyota bucks. Not only do you get dealer-installed appliances, but you also get credit towards another mod, repair, etc. Rick Souchek found himself in a predicament after he acquired $1000 to spend at his dealership on his 2022 Toyota Tacoma.
On Facebook’s Toyota Tacoma TRD Trucks group he posted, “Gained a $1,000 credit at a Toyota dealership. Need help blowing through the $1000 Toyota bucks by end of this month.” Before we take a look at what other owners advised him to spend on, check out our other story from this morning on how your older Tacoma might fetch more than its MSRP at a trade-in or private sale.
For cosmetic and show-off ideas, Bretta Anderton suggested, “LED all the way around, maybe upgrade stereo system, and a steel front bumper.” Granted prices for these mods are going to be different everywhere so do not think that all of these modifications cost under $1000. If you were to install them yourself, it would probably take a long time and the average owner is probably not going to issue themselves.
In terms of functionality, George Novak suggests that you spend those Toyota Bucks on stuff like a, “Bed mat, tow hitch and light connector, all-weather mats, sill protectors, Homelink mirror, window tint.” Again, all of these combined might cost more than $1000 but even if they did it would take out a nice dent of that price and keep your truck clean. A clean truck means a more valuable truck.
There is no such thing as a useless truck. If in this case, you bought the TRD PRO and love to go off-roading, maybe perhaps put that towards a nice lift kit and some wheels. That alone cost several thousand for a nice lift kit and frankly speaking, $1000 is a pretty big chunk of change.
All in all, these mods sound pretty great for the amount that you have. I personally would install a lift kit and some new tires. If by some miracle there was money left over, a sick roof rack would make a nice addition as well. It all depends on your taste and what you need it for. For some it’s a bed extension for others it’s LED lights.
