Ram is fulfilling its promise of honoring all of the military branches of service with the introduction of the final 2021 Ram 1500 'Built to Serve' Editions in spectacular Spitfire Orange and Bright White.
Ram promised to honor the five land, sea and air-based branches of the U.S. Armed forces and it is fulfilling that promise with the launch of the fifth and final edition of its 2021 Ram 1500 ‘Built to Serve’ trucks. The latest round of ‘Built to Serve’ will honor the maritime forces and be available in Spitfire or Bright White paint schemes.
“We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our armed forces and the brave men and women who serve them. These Built to Serve models are just one way we honor those who have selflessly served our country,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis. “Whether civilian or military, Ram truck owners are very familiar with this adage as it’s something we strive to build into every truck and van we produce.”
Ram started the effort with the 2020 Ram 1500 and will wrap up with the fifth and final 2021 Ram 1500 ‘Built to Serve’ Limited Editions. Orders will open this month and the vehicles will be built in the second quarter at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan. That means all of the different branches have now been honored.
The ‘Built to Serve’ edition Ram trucks are offered in the following colors and limited numbers:
- 1000 trucks in Gator and 1000 in Diamond Black representing the Army
- 1000 trucks in Ceramic Gray and 1000 in Patriot Blue representing the Navy
- 1000 trucks in Anvil and 1000 in Billet Silver representing the Air Force
- 1000 trucks in Tank and 1000 in Flame Red representing the Marines
- 500 trucks in Spitfire and 750 in Bright White representing the Coast Guard
Inside, each of the five branches of 'Built to Serve' Ram trucks is accented with unique, corresponding color stitching: Light Frost, Light Ambassador Blue, Light Diesel Gray, Core Green or Orange. Ram "Built to Serve Edition" packages are available on all body styles and all powertrains.
The ‘Built to Serve Editions’ will have special decals. They will also feature 20-inch aluminum wheels, wheel flares, all-black grille and surround, black bumpers and premium lighting.
The 2021 Ram 1500 ‘Built to Serve Editions’ will come with the 4x4 Off-Road features like all-terrain tires, skid plates, tow hooks and heavy-duty off-road front and rear shocks.
Meant to Be Personalized
Inside, the ‘Built to Serve Editions’ will have special badging on the instrument panel and seats. The Rams will also have several military-inspired features.
The 'Built to Serve' editions are designed to be customized. Buyers can apply their own patches – regimental, flags, name tapes or slogans – to personalize their "Built to Serve Edition." Front seat back panels are covered with Pouch Attachment Ladder System and Modular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment webbing so owners can attach additional equipment or pouches.
The 'Built to Serve' Edition Trucks Are Meant to Honor All Service
When the ‘Built to Serve' trucks were announced, Ram intended that they honor all members of the military, both current and retired, as well as people who are serving their communities. The head of Ram at the time said “Ram wants to honor those who are serving or have served the United States with distinction. For Ram truck owners, whether military or civilian, ‘Built to Serve’ is a maxim that they can be proud to stand behind. We also want to bring together Ram owners who are not currently serving to make a difference in their communities. We launched our Ram Nation volunteer organization in 2015 as a way to give our Ram truck owners a way to be involved when there’s a need.”
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately 7% of the U.S. population is an active member, reserve member or veteran of the armed services.
