The Rocky Mountain Driving Experience allows journalists from across the Rocky Mountain region to test drive some of the latest and most popular new vehicles.
Colorado is known for its Broncos, the football team, as well as the wild horses that roam the state. However, it is the 2021 Ford Bronco drawing a lot of attention this week as journalists from Colorado and the surrounding western states meet for the Rocky Mountain Driving Experience. About 30 journalists gathered to drive 15 of the latest and most popular vehicles including the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier and a host of others.
2021 Ford Bronco
The 2021 Ford Bronco Edition 1 is instantly recognizable. Ford marketing representative Jason Camp says that is definitely intentional. “The biggest thing about the Bronco is the nostalgia” says Camp. “Everyone has a Bronco story. The Bronco Team maintained the origins, the look and feel are very reminiscent of the earlier Bronco, but they incorporated the modern technology. It is all wrapped up in the total package.”
Colorado is absolutely Jeep Country and the journalists got to check out three of the newest. The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland Edition is expected to be one of the automaker’s top sellers going forward. The three-row comes in two different configurations to perfectly suit growing families.
What an incredible combination to behold! Hard to believe that the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 392, with the HEMI, have exactly the same amount of torque - 470 lb.-ft. Brandon Girmus, the Jeep Brand Manager, says “It is the wheel torque that is critical for rock climbing”. Girmus says the Rocky Mountain Driving Experience is perfect for all of the Jeeps. “It’s a match made in heaven for an off-road leader like Jeep,” says Girmus.
This is the first redesigned Frontier pickup in 17 years and it appears Nissan paid close attention to what its fans wanted. The newly redesigned truck is a few inches longer and higher, and is more rugged looking. The new engine is a 3.8 liter V-6 that kicks out 310 horsepower.
Steve Parrett, Nissan’s regional manager for Corporate Communications says “RMDE is a golden opportunity for us to allow various media in the Rocky Mountain region to check out the all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier. Also, the mountains are a great environment to showcase the trucks capabilities. Frontier really is the rugged, reliable, right sized truck with the most standard power in class to help conquer challenging conditions, whether at work or play.” The all-new midsize pickups should start hitting dealerships next month.
Unfortunately, I can’t spotlight all of the outstanding vehicles that journalists had the pleasure of test driving including: the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, 2022 Lexus ES 300h 2021 Toyota Siena Hybrid, 2021 Volkswagen ID.4, 2021 Honda Ridgeline, 2022 Honda Civic, 2021 Acura TLX, 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T, 2022 Mini Cooper. Look for future stories, especially on the three Jeeps featured here.
