Do you need to get into the Holiday spirit? You'll be more than encouraged after reading Lyn's story of extreme generosity.
Here is your new Jeep.
That's what David Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, said to Lyn Story. Too good to be true? A report from Automotive News says there were no strings attached to Lyn, whose Toyota kept breaking down.
Lyn, who is retired, is a generous and kind human being.
Lyn, a retired individual, selflessly reached out to people in need on the Nextdoor social media platform. She provided free rides to strangers, driving them to work and medical appointments. Her selfless acts of kindness were hindered only by the repeated breakdowns of her Toyota Matrix.
The original CBS news story that Stellantis dealer David Kelleher saw in April moved him to take action. When her 22-year-old Toyota kept breaking down, Lyn did whatever she could to keep giving.
The report says she frequently drove April Goodwin to chemotherapy treatments for ovarian cancer and helped Kevin Horrigan, who is legally blind, get to work. However, mechanical troubles with her Toyota were hindering her generosity.
"Lyn's like a little angel; she really is," Horrigan said.
"One time her car broke down, and she goes and flags down somebody in the middle of traffic to get me to my chemo," Goodwin said.
That prompted Kelleher, a former Stellantis National Dealer Council chairman known for his charitable work in his community, to contact CBS News and arrange to give Lyn a new Jeep from his dealership in Pennsylvania.
David Kelleher traveled 1,500 miles from his Philadelphia Jeep dealership to give her a new Jeep Compass.
Kelleher had fun pretending to be a service adviser at a dealership near Lyn Story's Fort Worth, Texas, home. When Story returned to pick up her Toyota Matrix, which was being fixed again, he surprised her with a 2024 Jeep Compass that she instantly nicknamed the "White Knight."
But Kelleher isn't done being generous himself.
Kelleher told Lyn he would not just give her a free Jeep Compass but also cover the cost of maintaining the new vehicle, including insurance, oil changes, and an extended service contract.
"Lyn is such a dear heart," Kelleher told CBS News. "She's looking for people to help, and that's who I want to help."
"To know that I could help somebody in such a way that's been helping other people, I get so much out of it," Kelleher said. "Now she's going to be safe. It's going to be dependable."
If that doesn't get you in the Holiday spirit, nothing will. There are a lot of good people in this world. There's too much negative news—stories like Lyn's must be told.
I would buy a new vehicle from David Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram, wouldn't you?
