Jeep wants to give the 2024 Wagoneer S Jeep's legendary off-road ability.

Jeep is calling the Jeep Wagoneer S Trailhawk a concept vehicle, but typically Jeep concepts are actually production vehicles that the company sends out to gauge the public’s interest. I would guess a rough and tumble BEV would be well received. Jeep officially launched the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S yesterday in New York. Today, executives rang the opening bell on Wall Street to reinforce their commitment to going electric. A true off-road Jeep Wagoneer S would be a logical next step.

Jeep Wagoneer S Trailhawk Concept

Jeep is calling its Wagoneer S Trailhawk Concept the “art of the possible.”

“This rugged and fully electric SUV concept can easily transition from the pavement to off-roading terrain showcasing the flexibility of the STLA Large platform and Jeep Wagoneer S lineup.”

“Like all Jeep brand SUVs, the new 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S descends from a rich heritage and is composed with legendary capability, innovative design and the flexibility to perform at its best both on- and off-road,” said Antonio Filosa, Jeep brand CEO. “The Jeep Wagoneer S Trailhawk concept vehicle, builds upon the flexible STLA Large platform, showcases what the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S lineup is truly capable of, whether cornering tight turns with ease or traversing new ground off the beaten path.”

For starters, the off-road concept vehicle adds Rock mode and driver-selectable electronic rear axle locker to enhanced Selec-Terrain system.

The Jeep Wagoneer S Trailhawk concept builds on the all-new, all-electric 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition, which debuted yesterday. The Wagoneer S is the Jeep brand’s first global battery-electric vehicle (BEV). It will be sold first in North America, but eventually will be sold in markets around the world. Orders are open now for the Wagoneer S and the BEV is expected to be available in the second half of 2024. The Jeep Wagoneer S carries a sticker price of $71,995, including destination.

The Jeep Wagoneer S Trailhawk Promises Superior Performance and Capability

The Jeep Wagoneer S Trailhawk concept features all the capability of the new production vehicle and takes it off-road. The standard Selec-Terrain system’s Auto, Sand, Snow, Eco and Sport is enhanced with Rock mode and a driver-selectable electronic rear axle locker. The trail-ready, four-wheel-drive concept vehicle also features rugged 31.5-inch all-terrain tires.

As I reported yesterday, Jeep is promising that the Wagoneer S will deliver 600 horsepower and 617 lb.-ft. of immediate torque for a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds. According to Jeep, the Wagoneer S will also have a range of more than 300 miles. The five-passenger vehicle will only be available as a BEV.

The Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition features loads of technology with 45 inches of screen space. There is also a 10.25-inch interactive screen for the front passenger.

Designed for capability, the Jeep Wagoneer S Trailhawk concept features a lifted suspension plus an aggressive front and rear design that includes heavy-duty tow hooks and functional air extractors to improve performance in high pressure zones under high-speed conditions.

Designed to be Rugged Inside and Out

The Trailhawk concept’s special-edition Banner exterior color is loaded with rugged features designed for the toughest adventures. The Wagoneer S has an anti-glare hood decal, flush badging inspired by modern aircraft, front and rear orange tow hooks, unique 18-inch multi-piece wheels, laser-cut aluminum roof rack and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof for an open-air experience.

Interior Highlights Include:

  • A redesigned octagonal steering wheel design allows the driver to lock in their preferred hand position for precise control:
  • Tactical-inspired grip section at the 9 and 3 o’clock positions for all-terrain driving
  • Rounded profile for hand-over-hand maneuvering over any terrain
  • The instrument panel features a cross-car grab bar for passenger stability off road.
  • Aggressive front seats retain their balance of sport and luxury appointments from the standard Jeep Wagoneer S.

The doors and center console feature a new modular cargo management system with re-configurable elastic straps that enable the user to customize gear storage and organization. The center console features a large open storage bin with a wireless phone charger and multiple USB outlets to power all modern tools and accessories essential to outdoor adventures.

At this point, Jeep isn’t saying if the Wagoneer S Trailhawk will become a reality. My guess is that the company will see how many inquiries they get for it and decide if it is feasible to produce. I bet true off-roaders would love it.
