Dodge's first electric muscle car will be delivered to customers during the fourth quarter but the performance car has already won a prestigious award.

Dodge promised auto enthusiasts when it phased out its HEMI-powered Challengers and Chargers in 2023, that it was creating the first EV muscle car. The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV is due out in the fourth quarter, and it is already being hailed as the Green Car Journal’s 2025 Performance Green Car of the Year. The all-new Dodge Charger Daytona EV will be the first all-electric vehicle from Dodge.

Why the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV was Selected

“The Dodge Charger Daytona lives up to the brand’s storied muscle car legacy with its striking design and brute power at the ready,” said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and GreenCarJournal.com. “What’s magical is that it delivers its impressive performance through the inherent efficiency of zero-emission electric drive as it addresses the need to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental achievement.”

“The all-new Dodge Charger Daytona is a game changer not just because it’s an electric vehicle, but because it’s a better muscle car,” said Matt McAlear, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis. “For the Dodge brand, electrification is simply a means to drive performance for our enthusiasts. The new Charger Daytona delivers more horsepower than the outgoing models, wrapped in iconic exterior and interior design, and with a sound that is unlike anything you’ve ever heard from a battery-electric vehicle. The all-new Dodge Charger represents the Dodge brand’s muscle car of the future and the brand’s first multi-energy muscle car lineup, with electric and gasoline options for customers.”

2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack will keep Dodge’s title as the world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car with 670 horsepower and 627 lb.-ft. of torque. The Dodge Charger Daytona will have an all-electric, 400-volt dual motor system, delivering high-horsepower performance through standard all-wheel drive. The Dodge Charger Daytona is an interesting experiment because Dodge has created a special Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system to replicate a muscle car sound for the EV. Current and previous generations of muscle cars were defined by the loud revving engines. Dodge realized right away that to be a muscle car, an EV needed an identifiable engine rumble.

I have covered the evolution of the EV muscle car since Dodge first proposed it two years ago. The Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack with its 670 horsepower will have an astounding 627 lb.-ft. of torque. The Scat Pack version reaches 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds while running the quarter-mile in an estimated 11.5 seconds. The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model will kick out 496 horsepower and 404 lb.-ft. of torque.

A New Type of Muscle Car

Another interesting aspect to the Dodge Charger Daytona is that eventually Dodge will also produce a gas-powered version.

All Charger Daytona models will give buyers their choice of getting an at-home Level 2 charging station or $600 charge credits through Free2move Charge. Both vehicles can be recharged from a 20% to 80% charge status in just over 27 minutes when using a Level 3 DC CCS fast charger.

When We Will See the Dodge Charger Daytona EVs

Dodge is staggering the production schedules of the different Charger Daytona EV models. Two-door Charger Daytona R/T and Charger Daytona Scat Pack models will begin arriving in dealerships in the fourth quarter. All-electric four-door Daytona Scat Pack and R/T models are scheduled to begin production in the first half of 2025. The two-door gas-powered Charger will go into production later. Two-door Dodge Charger SIXPACK H.O. (high output) and four-door Dodge Charger SIXPACK S.O. models are scheduled to begin production in the second half of 2025.

Both the Charger Daytona EV Scat Pack and Charger Daytona EV R/T will qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit when leased.

Orders are now open for two-door Charger Daytona EV R/T and Charger Daytona Scat Pack models. The first EVs will be arriving in next-gen Charger Daytona-certified dealerships in the fourth quarter.

Special First Call packages are now open for the two-door coupe versions of Charger Daytona EV R/T and Charger Daytona EV Scat Pack. The First Call packages include a two-day performance driving experience at Radford Racing School, a welcome kit and an exclusive VIP concierge service for customers who take delivery of a Dodge Charger Daytona sold order placed by October 31, 2024.

Dodge is giving all muscle car fans new options for owning their own Green Performance Car of 2025.
