The 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 was already designed to challenge the Ram Rebel. More horsepower ups the ante in the fight for luxury pickup supremacy.

GMC is once again upping the ante in the luxury pickup truck wars. The 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 is adding even more off-road capability with a new off-road performance package. The Detroit Three automakers have all turned their focus to truck performance as they respond to America’s demand for bigger and better trucks for both work and play. The off-road component has been a huge driver for that customer demand.

The Luxury Truck to Take You Virtually Anywhere

The 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 is now available with an all-new Off-Road Performance Package that adds factory-installed performance upgrades that bring additional power to the Sierra AT4.

“The 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 debuted all-new, purposeful technologies for the premium truck segment and the new Off-Road Performance Package takes it a step farther,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global GMC. “It offers optimized performance, both on- and off-road.”

The Sierra AT4 Off-Road Performance Package features the powerful 6.2L V-8 engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It adds a performance air intake system and rides on 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires.

More Performance and More Horsepower

With the addition of better air-flow, the AT4 extra performance package cranks up the horsepower. The AT4 Off-Road Performance Package delivers up to 435 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque. The increase of 15 horsepower and 9 lb-ft of additional torque over a Sierra equipped with a conventional 6.2L V-8 engine means the driver will have better power whether they are driving through oil fields or out on the ranch. From working construction sites or just out off-roading, the additional power means the truck can handle obstacles that many trucks can not.

The 6.2L is manufactured at GM’s Tonawanda engine plant in New York and was recently named a Wards 10 Best Engine for 2019. For decades, WardsAuto editors have evaluated every all-new or significantly improved engine or electric propulsion system available in production vehicles in the U.S. The editors score eligible vehicles on horsepower, torque, technology, observed fuel economy, relative competitiveness and noise characteristics.

The Sierra AT4’s Off-Road Performance package adds to the truck’s credibility as a true off-road luxury vehicle. Rarely are the words off-road and luxury used together. The Off-Road Performance package will add $4,940 to the cost of the 2019 Sierra AT4.

The Sierra AT4 was introduced earlier and already includes a standard 2-inch factory-installed suspension lift. It also has standard 4WD with a two-speed transfer case, locking rear differential and skid plates. It adds Hill Descent Control as well as Traction Select System.

2019 Sierra AT4 Includes Several Industry-First Options

The 2019 Sierra AT4 also has GMC’s exclusive, industry-first MultiPro Tailgate. The tail gate gives the driver the most options of any tailgate on the market, making it easier to load and unload.

Buyers can also get the all-new Carbon Fiber pickup box, adding durability without adding weight.

The 2019 GMC Sierra also has the latest safety technologies including a rear camera and mirror combination, giving the driver better view of the truck bed and helping to improve vision while backing up.

The 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 with the Off-Road Performance package is available now. GMC did not say how the off-road package will affect fuel economy.
