Hindsight is always 20/20 and a number of Ram 1500 owners are discussing the options that they wish they had ordered. Ramboxes appear to be the major perk that truck owners wish they had.
If you are looking for a 2018 or 2019 Ram 1500, pay attention to some current owners who wish they had gotten certain features from the outset. Hindsight is always 20/20 and many owners only realize how cool the added features are after they see someone else’s.
Storage Solutions
From the discussion on a popular Ram forum, the number one feature that owners wish they had is the Rambox. Hawk has a 2017 Ram 1500 and says “Ram Boxes and Memory seat. No Rebels near me had either option in the black.”
Canoe agrees, “I see a lot of people saying Rambox. They were a must-have for me, but it sure did cut down the number and configuration of available vehicles within a few hundred miles of me. It seems like less than 5% of on-lot vehicles had/have them.”
Purple says the Ramboxes will be a priority next time. “Rambox.. wish I had it but buying used your selection is limited when I comes to price, color, miles etc. next one will for sure have it though.”
Storage is a big draw. Immortal says it will be the deciding factor next time. “Next truck 4x4 hemi with ram box and that floor storage in the cab.”
Legion just bought a 2018 Ram 1500. “Ram Box and Cargo camera. Will add cargo camera later but would have been nice. Impossible to find exactly what I wanted.”
Sdy really wanted the extra storage as well but couldn’t find it in Colorado. “I would have loved to have the ram boxes but I didn't see a single truck at the 4-5 dealerships that I looked at for my truck.”
Push Button and Remote Start
The next most desired feature that owners mentioned was a combination between the push button start and the remote start. Pyro wishes he had gotten those options in North Carolina. “Remote start and heated seats and steering wheel.”
Sparky agrees, “Custom ordered mine, so got most every option I wanted. Didn't get remote start from the factory, wish I did.”
Broom, from Texas, joins the chorus. “Remote start and 8.4 Uconnect w/o nav.”
Infotainment and Navigation Systems
Broom leads us to the third option that drivers wish they had requested. Many owners wish they had ordered the large Uconnect screen and the newer radio and navigation system.
GI Joe echoes a lot of what we have already heard. “8.4” Radio, remote start and crew cab instead of quad cab.”
Several of the people commented that they had aftermarket radios and navigation systems installed later, but many wished they had gotten the factory set up.
Those are just examples of the more than 100 responses about what options owners wish they had gotten with their trucks.
Other popular items are sunroofs, and floor storage boxes. A couple of Ram owners mentioned that they wish they had gotten larger tow mirrors and the 32 gallon gas tank, for the extended driving range.
These are great suggestions for anyone looking to buy a new truck. You often might overlook a few small details, but these answers give you clues about what you might be wishing for down the road.
reference to the navigation
reference to the navigation on Ram , I have 2015, 1500 Laramie and the navigation is the worst I have ever seen, up graded 3 times the navigation and 3 out 3 times it cooked the radio. today the service tech told me not to try to update the GPS and nav system because there is a 50 /50 change it will cook the radio, a very expensive replacement. Buy a Tom Tom or or a Garmin or use a cell phone app Dodge has the worst nav system on the market. outside of that I love the truck.
my experience is totally
my experience is totally different. my 2015, 1500 Laramie Ecodiesel nav was great. inputting data was a breeze, not once did i have to update the system, no cooked radio.
