Porsche reported a sales drop in August while its overall sales year has been up. The automaker, in a statement, says it is awaiting final approvals to our representative vehicles to enable this program.
Porsche has reported its August sales were 4,709, a 9.1 percent decline, compared to last year. The automaker placed responsibility for the sales drop on “delays in our delivery of 2017 model year vehicles.” Those vehicles are still receiving final regulatory approvals. “Porsche is working diligently to obtain all required approvals as soon as possible,” the automaker stressed. As soon as the approvals are all in place, apparently, Porsche will be able to restore its sales stream and correct the sales dip.
Meantime, on a year-to-date basis, Porsche sales are up 1.1 percent compared to August 2016. So far, Porsche has delivered a total of 36,178 vehicles.
August activity was good for Porsche in two-door sports car sales. Indeed, the carmaker moved 1,642 two-door sports cars last month. Porsche 911 sales hit 1,016 units, a 35.6 percent increase over last year. The Boxster/Cayman line posted retail deliveries of 626 units, a 32.1 percent increase over last year. And sales of the Panamera sedan were 557, a 36.3percent increase. On a year-to-date basis, Panamera sales have been strong with 4,068 vehicles delivered
