Porsche has recalled 33,000 2010-2016 Panameras to repair and air conditioner control unit problem. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the control units may leak and short out raising the risk of fires.
Porsche has recalled 33,206 2010-2016 Panamera models to fix a problem with the air conditioning control unit. Specifically, the unit may short and cause a fire. The automaker has also advised owners to park their vehicles and refrain from driving until the service visit to fix this issue has occurred.
Paperwork Identifies Recalled Models
According to paperwork filed with the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), the models called back include:
- 2010-2016 Panamera 4S and S models
- 2011-2016 Panamera, Panamera 4, and Panamera Turbos
- 2012-2016 Panamera Turbo S and Panamera S E-Hybrid
- 2013-2016 Panamera GTS, 2013 Panamera Platinum Edition, and Panamera 4 Platinum Edition
- 2014-2016 Panamera S, Panamera 4S Executive, Panamera Turbo Executive, and Panamera Turbo S Executive
- 2015 Panamera Diesel
- 2016 Panamera 4 Edition, Panamera Edition, and Panamera Turbo S Exclusive Series
According to the notice, it is possible for water to get into the air conditioning control unit with the result that an electrical short circuit could occur. Porsche expects to begin the recall on June 23.
Automaker Will Notify Owners For Repairs
Panamera owners affected by this problem will be notified by the automaker so that they can set up service appointments. The service is free of charge and consists of a relay harness for the air conditioning blower. The unit will also be resealed to prevent water from leaking in.
