Led by the mid-sized Macan crossover and the upscale Panamera sedan, Porsche sales for June were up a modest 0.8 percent. Macan sales were up a surprising 53 percent, while Panamera's year-to-date sales were up a solid 36 percent.
While some observers see signs of a sales slowdown across the automotive industry, there are many bright spots still reporting sales hikes through June. For example, Volkswagen, which had seen its sales drop because of the Dieselgate scandal, is on the comeback as its sales were up 15 percent in June. June sales were up modestly
For June, Porsche reported about a 1 percent sales increase over June 2016 on sales of 4,516 vehicles. Year-to-date deliveries are up 3.2 percent compared to 2016. At the half-year mark, Porsche Cars of North America said it had delivered 27,568 vehicles.
Sales of the Macan, Porsche’s compact crossover, were excellent in June. The automaker delivered 1,871 Macans which is a 53.1 percent increase over the same period last year. On a year-to-date basis, Macan sales are up 30.9 percent with 10,638 delivered.
Panamera, the automaker’s luxury sedan, saw a 2.4 percent sales increase over June 2016 with deliveries of 518 vehicles. On a year-to-date basis, Panamera sales are up 36.5 percent with 3,001 vehicles moved.
CPO program vehicles had good month
Porsche’s Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle program continues with its success. In June, 1,477 CPO vehicles sold. For the first six months of the year, CPO sales are up 7.2 percent with 8,964 vehicles sold.
Sales of Porsche’s sporty 911 line were off 166 in June with 686 delivered. For the year to date, 4,395 moved, a decrease of 632 from 2016. The automaker’s mid-sized crossover, Cayenne, had a down month with 1,010 sold, down from 1,215 last year. On a year-to-date basis, 7,060 were delivered, compared to 7,699 last year. Finally, sales of the Boxster/Cayman series were down 256 for the month with 431 sold. For the year-to-date, 2,474 vehicles were delivered, down from 3,362 last year.
