2024 Tacoma PreRunner has returned. Take my video tour inside and out.
The all-new fourth generation 2024 Toyota Tacoma debuted this week to plenty of fanfare and positive feedback.
This week I was given the opportunity to get extended hands-on time with five of these Toyota Tacoma trim levels: TRD Pro, Trailhunter, TRD Sport, Limited, and TRD PreRunner.
Perhaps the most unique grade of all is TRD PreRunner – very much different from every other Tacoma.
What is 2024 Tacoma PreRunner?
What a good-looking truck the TRD PreRunner is. And it is so one-of-a-kind.
The 2024 Tacoma PreRunner is available solely in XtraCab configuration, meaning it only has two doors. No more Access Cab. No half doors. Just two. SR and SR5 grades come with XtraCab as well, but can also have Double Cab.
The thought here is that many truck owners drive either alone or with just one other passenger. Many people drive solo and need room for their gear.
This is where 2024 Tacoma PreRunner becomes practical and might become very popular too.
It is also only built with 4x2. There is no 4x4 option with 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD PreRunner. However, PreRunner does have standard electronically activated rear locking differential
My 2024 Toyota Tacoma Video
I have uploaded two TRD PreRunner videos on my “ToyotaJeff Reviews” YouTube channel in the past couple days. I included my interior tour here for your review.
I hope you find these videos helpful. You can also find “ToyotaJeff” videos on 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro, Trailhunter, TRD Sport, and Limited.
2024 Tacoma TRD PreRunner Engine
Look for the i-FORCE engine here. This is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which delivers 278 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is the powertrain partner.
2024 Tacoma PreRunner Has Storage
One nice feature is that the passenger seat can be folded flat, so it can be used as a work surface. I would use my laptop here.
The back is loaded with additional storage including both side pockets, lower storage on both sides, and the vertical back panel. You could store your tools, laptops, bags, coolers, and pretty much whatever you can think of.
How do you feel about the all-new Tacoma 2024 so far? What trim levels have caught your eye the most?
Thanks for reading everyone. See you next story.

No half doors on Xtra-cab?
No half doors on Xtra-cab? How are you supposed to get your stuff in and out of that storage space? I took the jump seats out of my 09 Xtracab and find the half doors are NEEDED to get stuff in and out of the storage space I created. I was thinking it might be time for a new one...but this is definitely a dealbreaker for me. So I guess I'll drive the 09 model awhile longer.
100% deal breaker, and I've
100% deal breaker, and I've never had anything other than Tacomas in my entire life. I use the back of my 2017 Access Cab for my dogs (with a sling hung off the back headrests). How are my two dogs supposed to get in the 2024?
Love the idea of a big open area with a lot of storage. It would be great for dogs....if they could get in. But they can't. Way to go Toyota.
No rear doors? I don't like
No rear doors? I don't like that. Starage space back there looks great, but how do you get good access?
