A 2021 Ford F-150 With Retro Looks

Retro craze continues with 14th-generation F-150 getting iconic styling with all the modern amenities and performance of today’s trucks.

A year or so ago, I did a story on a Cincinnati, Ohio-based Ford dealer who was retrofitting old-school truck styling on 2019 and 2020 Ford F-150s. So when I heard that the same Ford dealer is now doing the same thing to the newest iteration, the 14th-generation Ford F-150 – I had to do something on it.

Beechmont Ford in suburban Cincinnati has a reputation for delivering high-performance vehicles (both cars and trucks) and also customizing Ford vehicles to their customer’s preference. The Beechmont Ford Performance (BFP) team has a few memorable builds including a 2018 BFP Retro F-150.

“This hugely successful concept was designed to be a nod to the past,” said Charlie Watson, Marketing Manager for the Mark Williams Auto Group which owns Beechmont Ford. “We are thrilled to announce that the BFP Retro F-150 is back and better than ever for 2021!”

How Does The Retro Process Work For The 2021 Ford F-150?
Watson says the BFP retro process is quite simple and starts with the purchase of a 2021 F-150 (obviously).
“As amazing as the F-150 was in the 2020 model year, the 2021 is on a completely different level,” he said. “This is true in exterior styling, performance and interior comfort.”

BFP will build a retro truck on whatever platform and trim you choose. This could even include the new PowerBoost hybrid F-150.

“We highly recommend starting with an XLT 302A or Lariat 502A, both with the respective chrome package,” Watson said. “Although we have built these on XLT and Lariat Sport trucks, the look really comes together with the factory chrome package.”

Once a customer chooses their trim, engine and options, the BFP team takes over and adds the retro package.

What does the BFP Retro package include?
If you’re looking to differentiate your new truck from any other one on the road, the retro package is a great idea.

According to Watson the BFP Retro Package includes the following:
3.5” SUSPENSION LIFT
17” Polished Retro Wheel, Wrapped In 35” AT Tire
Iconic Chrome Bed Rack w/ KC Hi Lights
BFP Custom Satin Pearl Wrap (Paint Option Available)

They can also further customize it with options like a Roush Cat-back exhaust. As a certified Roush dealer, Beechmont Ford often adds more power to F-150 and Mustangs with Roush superchargers.

As for the current retro package on the current-generation F-150, the dealer said wait times for this truck are much longer than normal due to the international microchip shortage that has been discussed a lot and that we’ve written about regularly here.

“Although they can’t guarantee an exact date, they are estimating 6-month wait times to get a BFP RETRO,” Watson said. “Their process is to take a refundable deposit, and order your truck directly from Ford. Once your truck arrives, they will do the BFP RETRO conversion.”

I love the retro look of older trucks, but love all the modern amenities of today’s trucks, especially the new 2021 F-150. So this seems like the best of both worlds. What do you think? Leave me your comment below.

This is definitely the way to go if someone really does not want to invest all the cash, headache and heartache in a vintage truck restoration, and wants all the modern features (including improved performance) in a retro look. IMHO too many trucks today have a SUVish look to them.
