Mustang is celebrating 60 years of the iconic muscle car with a spectacular special edition of the 2025 Mustang GTD. The Mustang GTD Spirit of America celebrates all things Mustang, from its first win at the 1964 Tour de France to recently becoming the first car from an American brand to lap the famed Nürburgring in less than 7 minutes. The GTD Spirit of America has twin racing stripes just like Mustang’s 1964 Tribar logo. Most importantly the GTD Spirit of America salutes Mustang’s performance and love of speed.
“Mustang GTD is the pinnacle of Mustang performance. Mustang GTD Spirit of America celebrates the daring behind that performance,” said Mustang GTD Brand Manager Jim Owens.

The GTD, which starts around $325,000, is the ultimate Mustang. It comes standard with the performance package, so it is incredibly fast and powerful. It features carbon fiber aerodynamic parts on the car’s exterior. It even has the word “MUSTANG” printed on the underside of the rear wing. Ford is being quite cheeky with Mustang on the spoiler. It wants other drivers to instantly know what sports car just passed them!
Exposed carbon fiber is a major design element on the Mustang GTD Spirit of America. The carbon fiber parts are visible on the front splitter, as well as on the rear diffuser and spoiler.
Paint Scheme is a Tribute to an Early Racing Pioneer
Ford Design has given the special edition a Performance White body with twin racing stripes in Race Red and Lightning Blue. It looks much like the 1964 Mustang but also is a throwback to one of Mustang’s early champions. Craig Breedlove, a structural engineering tech in the aerospace industry bought a $500 jet engine from a Korean War fighter plane and became the first person to break the 500- and 600-mile-per-hour barriers on land. Ford says Breedlove’s record-setting efforts helped inspire decades of American designers, engineers, and inventors, including the men and women of the Mustang GTD program. The GTD’s white paint with red and blue stripes matches the overalls that Craig Breedlove wore when he broke both the 500- and 600-mile-per-hour barriers in the 1960s.
Owens said, “Mustang GTD wouldn't have been possible without people like Craig Breedlove, pushing the edge of the envelope and challenging the Goliaths of the day in an all-American way.”
The interior is designed to showcase the GTD’s racing heritage. The seats are leather-trimmed with suede-like inserts. The seats are black with a Race Red stripe down the middle and white trim. Victory Blue pops of color are scattered throughout the cabin. The paddle shifters, shift ring, and IP badge are available in 3D-printed titanium.
