General Motors was one of the weakest auto companies in the US market in September 2012 with a year over year growth of just 1.5% but that slight increase allowed them to beat cross-town rival Ford Motor Company en route to once again being the bestselling automaker in the US by a pretty comfortable margin.

General Motors has featured the new Chevrolet Sonic in a variety of commercials where the sporty little compact is doing things like flipping off of a ramp or skydiving but after spending some time driving the Sonic 5-door Turbo – I can confidently say that GM has finally developed a compact model that is efficient, affordable and a whole lot of fun to drive.

The Chevrolet Volt had its best month ever in September 2012 and for the 8th straight month the electric Chevy has badly outsold the Nissan Leaf - this time by a margin of almost 3 to 1 as the Japanese competition continues to try to fill the preorders made more than 3 years ago.
