Nascar cage seems an excellent idea.

Also, people drive big vehicles because they feel
unsafe in a crash.with a larger car.

Its possible the 40,000 people killed yearly on US roads might
go down if a national law were phased in to
restrict cars to less than 2500 lbs.

It would also save huge amounts of energy as accelerating
a large mass car to highway speeds is what drains batteries
and gas tanks.
