Tx for your note - I have a leaf and similar to the Volt, the battery is placed low and between the front and back axles. This is actually not good for snow driving a front wheel drive (FWD) car. Ideally the weight should be planted ontop of the front axle to provide superior traction to the driving wheels. From personal experience the Leaf is not as good as a conventional FWD car - the best exponents of this arrangement are traditionally the FWD Saabs and Volvos....
