CX-5 and 2014 Mazda6 help Mazda dominate Edmunds' Top Rated Vehicles list
Mazda vehicles appeared in almost every possible category in the new Edmunds’ Top Rated Vehicles list. We are fans of lists like these from industry experts. Yes, there are a lot of lists like this, but Edmunds in particular is a trusted source for the auto industry.
In its new list every Mazda vehicle except the MX-5 Miata is a category winner. The 2014 Mazda3, The Mazda6, the Mazda CX-5 and even the CX-9 are given Top Rated status by Edmunds. No other automaker has such a high percentage of its vehicles represented this way except Audi. We are guessing the Miata was left off because it has so many awards it felt embarrassed.
Edmunds explains how it generates the list this way, saying “Each vehicle is driven on a standardized road-test loop and visits our test track for instrumented testing in controlled conditions. Our time behind the wheel is used to develop ratings that grade how a car stacks up against its direct rivals in its size and price class. The Edmunds.com Top Rated Awards are given to the vehicles that received an “A” rating.” That means that the 3, 6, CX-5 and CX-9 all earned an “A” from the testing doen by Edmunds.
One reason Mazda did so well is that Mazda has now introduced a completely new Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5 in the past 2 years. The CX-9 is also refreshed for the current model year. New is good. Mazda is new. The Miata is now old, but a new one is due any time now and the current one is still the best convertible sports car. Period.
