Kevin,
Kevin,
I am sorry to disappoint you, the run flats are not going guarantee safety if a blow-out occurs at 80 MPH, take comfort in the fact such events are incredibly rare. The best way to protect against high speed blow-outs is to make sure your tires have sufficient tread and are properly inflated. Repairing a puncture on a tire is relatively simple, takes at most 10 minutes with a kit purchased for $6.15 on Amazon and incidentally is good for plugging 6 holes (yes I looked it up). True my dad was a farmer and taught me how to do basic repair and maintenance on a truck, though that knowledge does translate to cars as well. I repair my own tires because "professional tire repairer" is not a career path, it's a job someone does when they have no choice. So trusting such a burnout to repair a tire that literally could cost you and your family your lives is a questionable decision in my mind. On the other hand repairing a tire is so simple likely even a burnout could do it fairly well.
