Just to correct a few things, 18650 is a bit larger than AA-size. And while 18650 is used in Laptops. Tesla has not used Laptop cells in the Model S. The laptop cells were used in the Roadster (LCO chemistry). Telsa uses a proprietary NCA chemistry. NCA is more energy dense and safer than LCO.
