Hey John, mine was a 2001 Acura. I think I started to get notices from Acura about the problem about '04 or '05. They first offered some kind of modification to the tranny, (had something to do with the 3 gear clutch plate being under lubed or some such thing), so they tapped into the tranny, ran an exterior tube and then tapped in right above the 3rd gear clutch assembly. I forwent that, wasn't having problems yet, (apparently the, "fix" didn't work anyway). Included in the notice was the extension of warrantee and I was in no hurry to bring it back to the dealer. By the time mine started acting up, Acura was replacing the transmissions. Strange yours wasn't covered, maybe it was treated differently by Acura than Honda. One wouldn't think so.
