I've been considering the purchase of a new Subaru, but after reading about the way they're handling this problem I'm looking elsewhere. I've had Toyota, Nissan, Audi, and Honda vehicles and have rarely even had to add oil between changes, even though I use synthetic oil and extend the oil change interval to 10,000 miles after the warranty's up.

For Subaru to consider significant oil consumption "normal" is utter BS, and has lost them this potential customer.
