Krista - As suggested, do a manual sampling of the MPG's. With the hybrid, there are 3 MPG options in the display...one is the mpg since last started, two is the mpg since holding and doing a reset, and three is the mpg since refuel. To set the odometer, so you can do the manual tracking of miles, just press the odometer button until you get to trip A and hold it to reset. Then you can easily see how many miles you have travelled when you do the next fill up. I have found the computer shows less mpg on short trips as you described, when looking at the computer version of the mpg's. I've found idling kills the mpg, so if you do that, it will kill off any big mpg's. I've also found keeping it at 55-65 mph will help the mpg's. Also as suggested, return to the dealer if the mpg's are around 30 as a minimum.
