If you are reading this, you surely know that the 2015-2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and the 2015-2016 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat are powered by a supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 that delivers an advertised output of 707 horsepower and 650lb-ft of torque. Those figures make the Challenger the most powerful full production, factory-built, street legal muscle car ever while making the Charger the most powerful 4-door sedan in the world. With top speed capabilities over 200 miles per hour and stock quarter mile times in the low 11-second range, the Hellcat Challenger and Charger are also among the quickest and fastest production cars in the world, but sometimes having the fastest, the quickest and the most powerful “production” car in the world isn’t enough.

This is why there is such a large aftermarket for Hellcat performance upgrades, as those folks who like the push their Dodge Challenger or Charger to the limits often find that they want those limits to be even greater. As a result, we have featured a handful of tuning companies offering high performance packages for these Mopar monsters and today, we bring you the nastiest Hellcat upgrade package Ive seen thus far.

Today, we bring you a look at the Stage 5 Hellcat Challenger and Charger upgrade from Savage Street Cars in Houston, Texas, which lifts the output from 707 horsepower to 1,500 horsepower – all for just $10,995 installed.

Quick Disclaimer
Before getting into the details of this package, I want to point out a few things that every Hellcat owner should know.

First, while this kind of power can be produced on a Hellcat Hemi without other work - such as a strengthened engine block and/or rotating assembly - the amount of stress on a stock Hellcat bottom end when making 1,500bhp can have a major impact on the longevity of your engine. If you are serious about building your Hellcat Hemi up to 1,500hp, you should really look into building the engine from the bottom up in order to make sure that the engine can stand up to the added stress.

Second, while the stock transmission and rearend may handle this kind of power for a while, owners looking to create this kind of power should expect to deal with transmission and differential issues - especially if the car is being raced with that kind of power. Most of the quickest Hellcat cars are running fully built rearends to handle the power needed to get into the low 9-second range and if you want to pack 1,500 horsepower - you should look into those other performance modifications as well.

Finally - and most importantly - there have been no actual vehicles built with this package, and the build below is currently just on paper. In other words, the proper assembly of these modifications can produce 1,500bhp (not wheel horsepower), but this shop hasn't had a customer opt for this monster kit thus far so there is no real world example of this setup in action. In no way is this piece a promotion of the package, but it shows what is out there for folks looking to make big power. When shopping around for this kind of work, it is important to do your homework and speak with vehicle owners who have experience with whichever shop you pick.

Savage Street Cars Builds a 1,500hp Hellcat
Say that you have a 2015-2016 Dodge Challenger or Charger with the 6.2L Hellcat Hemi and you feel the need to have 1,500 horsepower at your disposal. Savage Street Cars in Houston, Texas has you covered with their new Stage 5 Hellcat package, which lifts the output from 707 horsepower and 650lb-ft of torque to 1,500 horsepower and 1,300lb-ft of torque.

This 1,500 horsepower Hellcat Hemi build begins by removing and porting the stock supercharger housing to improve air flow, while a 2.40 supercharger pulley increases boost levels into the 18-20psi range. While working on the top end, the team adds a custom nitrous oxide spray bar system with 200hp jets and an advanced NOS controller system. This top end work allows the engine to take in a ton more air, but that needs a ton more fuel, so Savage Street Cars adds 127lb injectors, injector adapters and a complete Fore Innovation fuel system. To help the Hellcat breath better on the back end, a set of 2 inch ARH headers replaces the stock exhaust manifolds and to bring all of these modifications together in a way that adds the most power, Savage Street Cars adds a custom engine computer tune that lifts the supercharged Challenger and Charger up to the 1,500hp range.

Finally, to help stave off the high temperatures created at 20psi, Savage Street Cars adds an innovative ice tank to the closed loop cooling system of the Hellcat supercharger setup. One of the unique features of the Hellcat Hemi which helps it create so much power for extended periods of time is the closed loop cooling system, which only services the supercharger assembly. The coolant in this system helps to reduce the temperature of the intercooler, the supercharger housing and the air headed into the engine. The cooler you can get that air, the more power you can make and the more reliably you can make that power. In stock form, this cooling loop relies simply on a small radiator mounted behind the grille, so the coolant goes from the intercooler to this radiator to cool the system. Savage Street Cars is the first group to make a package that enhances that unique cooling system, adding a massive ice tank in the trunk to help keep the intercooler and engine intake air temps as cool as possible. With this ice tank, the coolant from the intercooler, through the long lines to the trunk (which begins the cooling process), into the large cooling box which is packed full of ice, then the coolant returns through the lines to the intercooler.

Best of all, this entire package for the Hellcat Challenger or Charger – including installation by Savage Street Cars – costs just $10,995. This means that someone who buys a 2016 Challenger SRT Hellcat for $68,185 (base price plus the 8-speed automatic transmission and destination fees) can spend another $10,995 and come away with a 1,500 horsepower Mopar muscle car.
