Volvo has filed a recall notice with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on 5,529 90 Series models (S90, V90 Cross Country, XC90) because of an issue with the side curtain airbags. According to the notice, the bolts that hold the airbags may break and cause them to not deploy correctly. The cause of the bolts breaking is due to a manufacturing error.

Volvo dealers will inspect the bolts and if necessary, replace them at no charge to the owner.

Owners will be notified about the recall beginning on April 1st. If you have any questions or concerns, you are asked to call Volvo's Customer Service line at 1-800-458-1552 and mention recall number R89714.
