Italian Gang Conspired to Steal the Body of Enzo Ferrari

Italian authorities announced they had foiled a plot to steal the body of Enzo Ferrari. Yes, the founder of the famed Italian sports car builder.

Police in Nuoro on the island of Sardinia revealed at a news conference that a gang was planning to steal the body and demand a ransom from the Ferrari family or the company. According to Reuters, police discovered the plot during an investigation into arms and drug trafficking.

Enzo Ferrari passed away in 1988 at age 90, only a few months after the 40th Anniversary of the company and the launch of the F40. His body currently rests in an above-ground family tomb in the San Cataldo cemetery in Modena, near by Ferrari's Maranello plant.
