2014 ram. Started same problem at 40k miles. Fuel gage reads fuel system failure and check engine light comes on, stays on, and fuel gage works. I think on the arm of the float, there’s a sensor that reads from a “metallic” contact strip. Debris in the fuel wears a mark that makes the sensor read “OL”, or open loop meaning it’s not reading or making contact. I’ve researched this a lot, and if you get a new fuel pump, DO NOT get a mopar. You will get a new pump same design and about 10k miles if you’re lucky, you’ll get the same issue!! Make your mechanic show you the pump and make sure it’s the “new” design. It’s crap, no matter what, you’re looking at a whole day diy, and about 800-1000$ for a mechanic to do it. I already fixed a freakin leak around my brake light over the back window. If you find a person from Chrysler we can explain this issue with to MAKE NOISE!! I want in.
