On one hand, I agree that EVs primary issues to being competitive with gasoline cars (other than range and cost) is recharging speed. I have a PHEV, so I fully charge overnight (@14mi per hour) , and I don't think about charging on the road because I have gas as a backup if I want to drive further. But even though it would be a nice convenience to charge 180 miles in 10 minutes, for most people like me who charge at home, public charger speed is not vital. The simple fact that the latest cars like the Bolt and Model 3 have 200+ miles of range means that they are fine for most people who will not get close to driving more than 200 miles a day. For those people who cannot charge at home or at work it could be an issue, but I think that it is more important getting more fast chargers out there for different people to use, rather than just having the fastest chargers.
