Just got my 2020. Was told by the Dealer this "great" system worked off satellite. Well guess what it doesn't, it works off AT&T, and if you live in rural areas or mountains like SO many Subaru people, AT&T is woefully inadequate in coverage, Soooo, Starlink is useless in these areas. What in the world was Subaru thinking!! The system is also very complicated to use, yes, you can get around many features by using voice commands, but simple things like changing a seat-heater setting is not voice activated. So, I have to take my eyes off the road, go to a computer screen, hit two or three additional touch screens to keep my bottom from burning. I had always wanted to remote start my vehicle so it could warm up and defrost before I went outside. I just spent over $30,000 and I still do not have remote start capability at my house. I predict that accidents involving Subarus will climb, mainly due to the fact that this new technology means you will be distracted from looking at the road to search for these screens. In the Ford Escape we have, you just reach down and turn a little wheel button to turn the heater off. There is a point when technology becomes too overwhelming and actually more dangerous the old analog buttons and Subaru has reached that point. If I had to do it over, I would not have bought a Subaru. The car is great mechanically and safety wise but Starlink is more than enough to send me to another vehicle.
