I had a 1.6 H4 Turbo from ‘86
I had a 1.6 H4 Turbo from ‘86 and now have a 3.3 H6 from ‘94 with EAT4 and a 2.4 Turbo from ‘20 with CVT. The ‘86 and ‘20 models perform very similarly, tho there is virtually no turbo lag on the ‘20 and, horrifically, it starts/stops all the time if you let it (easily disabled with latest CP1 update), which you KNOW is hard on the system with the super hot Turbo suddenly not getting cooled! The 2.4 has a special design to enable 87 octane, but just don’t do it! There are also warnings everywhere not to use Ethanol gas, but I see the forums filled with people proclaiming the virtues of Costco and SamsClub 87 octane and ridiculing the people burning 91. These will be the same people filing class action lawsuits for being stupid —burning low octane gas, hauling too much weight in too high a temps/altitude..blowing their engines apart. I don’t know about the newer model (there were only two, right?) but my H6 requires 91 OR better (the standard in Japan was 95). For my vote, in general I prefer the torque of the 2.4 (burning 91) but the H6 has so much power on the open highway (super fast at 2-3K RPMs) and I can’t stand the “cheap” trashcan noise the 2.4 makes at high RPM. I wanted an H6 Turbo B-11S and that never materialized..next car will be all electric Fisker or Rivian obviously, but you can bet I am keepin’ my fun H6 super cruiser and it will be the 2.4 that gets traded (when reliable supercharger grid is available for non-Teslas which look like Ford Tauruses from my POV lol)
