A little math shows the value of the hybrid.

Assuming that one keeps the vehicle for 100,000 miles and that gas costs $2.75/gallon, fuel costs for the hybrid will be about $2900 less than the conventional engine.

Consumer Reports indicates that the reliability for Toyota hybrids are better than than the conventional counterparts.
