I worked on direct injection
I worked on direct injection engine development for a competing car company. Oil dilution is an inherent problem with direct injection and gets worse as the fuel injectors age and provide a less uniform spray. Also happens in Diesel engines for the same reason. Honda should really be replacing or at least cleaning injectors on problem engines- probably too expensive a fix to volunteer to do. My civic is showing the problem. At the very least you should change the oil frequently if you see the engine “gaining” oil. Also should go to the next higher viscosity grade to avoid damage. The 10,000 mile oil change is just absurd under these circumstances.
