I would definitely snap up a PHEV Miata with an electric range of at least 100 km and at least 120 kW of electric power, corresponding roughly to the ICE power they currently have. Tesla’s original roadster showed that 200+ miles range is possible in an even smaller car than an MX5, but it was too heavy for some tastes. The devil is in the details of a range extending motor that isn’t too wimpy to sustain that electric power up a hill, which was the problem with the BMW i3.
