I own a 1988 944 turbo S (1,000 made WWide) and I can tell you that it eats Boxster S and 911s of the same era at the track. Very fast car, especially with a chip and 300hp... suspension is tight, brakes are from a 928S and can enter turns much faster... and when the turbo spools its especially fast from 50-100 mph (2nd gear to 4th gear under boost). Very reliable if taken care of. Best car I've owned, and I have a 993 also.
