I just did a 5-day 'test' camping trip in my 2019 crosstrek. I had a custom-made, foldable insert with a 2 inch pad that gives a 6'3" sleeping platform. While it worked, and saved me from a monsoon one night, there are a few things to consider:
- a crosstrek is very tight (I'm talking head room) even for a slim person. I'm pretty flexible but I wished I'd gotten that black belt in yoga.
-it gets very warm and stuffy even with one person in it. I had bought mosquito screens for the windows and they did not let much air through. It might be ok with windows wide open and no screens but bugs prevented me from trying this time around. Maybe a tail gate tent/extension would help. I'll try that next. Any experiences out there with those?
