I like the idea a lot .. just be aware that if you have a power liftgate on a newer Subaru, like my 2017 Outback, leaving it open overnight will likely run down the battery as the motor draws current the whole time it's open. We have friends with a 2018 who learned this the hard way after just such a camping trip, and they aren't alone! Luckily the kids with them, with their beaters, were able to give them a jump.
