I think that this will be a huge seller for Toyota. The $7,500 federal subsidy brings the final price close to $30K, which is very close to the Honda CR-V hybrid, and the RAV4 Hybrid, which lack the RAV4 Prime's performance and importantly it's plug-in hybrid, EV-only capability. I think that the biggest EV crossover competition will be from the Nissan Ariya (due in July), which is a pure electric crossover, with even faster acceleration, and 300 EV miles of range, at around the same price. The RAV4 Prime has more of a traditional SUV look, and it's PHEV capability will make it a safe bet for someone who wants an economical EV crossover, but is not ready for a battery-only choice.
