It is more like the powertrain carries on from the 2005 model year, which is when the 5 spd transmission debuted. The 4.0L V-6 is even older. Toyota can keep soldiering on giving a random feature here and there such as LED headlights that it could have gotten years ago, but with the coming of the new Bronco, with more exciting powertrains, the 4Runner and the Jeep products will need to evolve to keep pace, or watch the sales dwindle. While not tested yet, it is my hope that the Bronco disrupts this segment of the market.
