Larry, your main point is certainly valid, but internal combustion engines have approached a 40% efficiency over the past decade. Don't take my word for it, the link after my comment is an EPA document on the subject. The reason many green buyers purchase a plug-in hybrid-electric vehicle is because they are good at math, not bad. They know what a 94MPGe (RAV4) or 133 MPGe (Prius Prime) rating means, and they also know that they can achieve most of their daily driving without using any gasoline.
