10 Most And Least Reliable Cars - Subaru Crosstrek Is Best, Ascent Among The Worst
The Subaru Crosstrek and Ascent couldn't be more opposite in the newly released Consumer Reports' reliability rankings. The Ten Most Reliable new cars include the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek, and the Ten Least Reliable new cars include the 2022 Subaru Ascent.
The ten most reliable cars
For the ten cars that shine for reliability, the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek scores 85 out of 100 and is the ninth-best new model. Subaru made no changes to the 2022 models, and Consumer Reports says the 2021 models have a perfect 5/5 overall reliability score.
CR says, "We expect the Subaru Crosstrek will be much more reliable than the average new car." The Crosstrek is ranked #1 of 3 in reliability among 2021 SUVs. The in-car electronics, body, and power equipment all score 4/5 points for owner-reported trouble spots.
The ten most reliable cars include the Lexus GX, Kia Niro Electric, Toyota Prius Prime, Toyota Prius, Cadillac XT5, Mazda MX-5, Honda Insight, Toyota Highlander, and Mazda CX-9.
The ten least reliable cars
For the ten cars with the most significant risk of problems, the 2022 Subaru Ascent gets a reliability score of 60 out of 100 and is the 10th least reliable new car. CR says trouble spots are the transmission, power equipment, brakes, in-car electronics, and climate system. CR gives the Ascent a 1/5 for predicted reliability.
CR's prediction is based on data from 2019, 2020, and 2021 models, and since there are no changes to the 2022 models, it carries through.
The ten least reliable cars counting down to the least reliable model are the Subaru Ascent, Chrysler Pacifica, Tesla Model Y, Volkswagen Tiguan, Volvo XC90, Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford Mustang, Ford Explorer, and Mercedes-Benz GLE (least reliable).
The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek is the Camden, N.J. automaker's fastest-selling model, and reliability is a significant reason why. The Subaru Ascent sales have dropped since its new model launch in 2019, and reliability could be why.
