The First Shipments of 2022 Toyota Tundra Trucks Arriving Sooner Than You Think

Here is what to expect with the first 2022 Tundra shipments. Plus, how to get one quicker.

Get ready for another steady onslaught of 2022 Toyota Tundra news and reports.

We have been treated to a large amount of next-gen 2022 Tundra specs and details over the last few months. Some of it was initially rumor and speculation from multiple sources. Then, Toyota released just about everything we have been hoping to learn.

I am grateful to have been selected to be part of the initial Toyota Tundra launch and media first drive events. And I cannot wait for you to see up close and personal what I have seen.

Yes, you have learned a lot through social media. But this is big. The time is very near.

Now, the first Tundra trucks are ready for retail sale. And soon.

2022 Toyota Tundra Release Date

You can expect to start seeing the very first 2022 Tundra trucks at dealerships across the country in early December. Really just a week or so away.

Just in smaller quantities and volume.

What You Can Expect with 2022 Tundra

Typically, when a new body style or new model altogether is released, volume will be smaller initially. Then it will ramp up as the months go by.

We should all anticipate this with 2022 Toyota Tundra. Most dealerships will be allocated between one and a couple handfuls of new 2022 models in the first month (December to January).

With the ongoing vehicle shortage plaguing the entire automotive industry, the way you purchase a new Toyota Tundra will more than likely be different than in the past.

How to Buy a 2022 Toyota Tundra

I did a small survey of dealership personnel I know around the country and each dealer is handling next-gen Tundra sales in slightly different ways.

As you would expect since every dealer is unique in their own way.

A majority of 2022 Tundra trucks coming to dealerships have already been pre-sold with customer deposits. Some have not been reserved yet and are still available.

Also, a couple dealers mentioned they plan to display an incoming Toyota Tundra in their showrooms for a period of time so customers can see it up close for themselves.

My suggestion is to work with a dealership you trust and who will offer open communication and transparency on 2022 Toyota Tundra orders. Tell them about your ideal Tundra and see if they have anything incoming that is what you want or that would work for you.

If they do not, you could place an order through them and see if Toyota will accept their allocation request.

I feel the key to getting a Tundra sooner is to contact your local dealer and begin the buying process as soon as you are comfortable. This way, if there is a wait list, you will be closer to the top.

Time for Your Toyota Tundra Comments

Remember, there are two engine choices with 2022 Tundra.

The gasoline-only 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 is the only available choice for the next few months. Powerful i-FORCE MAX Tundra hybrid will be out in the spring.

Are you in the market for a new 2022 Toyota Tundra, and if so, what is your plan for buying one?

Are you more interested in the gasoline or hybrid version?
