Yeah, it made me smile seeing Tinsae's article proclaiming Model S numbers to be 50% above their estimates, and right next to it was John's article saying that the sales were down 50% (from 2017). Tinsae gets the Optimist Award for 2022. It is actually good news that Model S production is up, after a sluggish start. I am hoping to see production ramp FAR more steeply once the Model Y production begins at Giga Texas later this month. Since the Fremont, CA facility has been producing ALL domestic Teslas, and the majority of sales have been of the Model 3/Y, Tesla has just squeezed out a small number of the refreshed Model S Plaid, and only a few LR Model S, and no Model Xs so far. I have a friend who owns a Model S Plaid and has had a Model X Plaid on order since early last year, but even though you could get a Model S Plaid pretty quickly, the Long Range Model S is not predicted to ship until July of 2022, and the Model X Plaid ordered now is estimated to deliver in October 2022, or 2023 for the LR model. Clearly Tesla is not on the fast track to build the non-Plaid Model S or X right now. But I suspect that things will change dramatically by mid year, 2022.
